Hello,
Recently i have just been practicing reading and writing Hiragana and Katakana, i can read both quite well now and recognize all the characters but when i am writing them down i get a blank spot when switching between the two.
Guess i just need to practice writing them down more?
Any tips appreciated.

yeah, practice is what you need.
Actually, I still have trouble sometimes writing them, like you said I get a blank spot. However, reading is really easy and my reading speed is fast enough to do karaoke with lyrics in hiragana.
It's probably easier to remember the words you'll be writing in katakana, so as to increase your writing speed, that's all I can think of.

I think i spent too much time with hiragana and its the katakana that is giving me more of a blank head.
