use of "you desu" ようです

Hi. I was reading about the use of "you desu" in Japanese.：ようです
In using it to describe conjecture or resemblance, it is used with nouns + の；なーadjectives + な or with verbs in the plain form, right?

However, I came across this sentence:
君の部屋はひどい散らかりようですね。
I was wondering if anyone could help explain why the verb here (散らかります) was used in the -masu (- ます） form?

The ways of using よう is not restricted to: nouns + の；な- adjectives + な or with verbs in the plain form. 

You would usually use な- adjectives + な but with some adjectives you can add よう straight after the adjective. 

When 散らかります becomes 散らかり it's turned from a verb 散らかります into an adjective 散らかり and in this case you can use よう (it seems that/it appears that) straight after it.

Hi John, 

Sorry I made a mix-up. 
When you turn 散らかる・ます into 散らかり it becomes a noun. It means "a mess/scatter". Or depending on the context of the sentence can also be a 散らかる + conjunction particle り.
But in this case it makes it into a noun that means "messiness or scattering". It's a noun but it describes the state of messiness and scattering so it wasn't as clear whether it's working as a noun or an adjective sorry.
