i was watching a japanese drama online, and it said that males use 'ore' instead of 'watashi'.
i was hoping to have my japanese suite my gender (as a male). so i was wondering, what other common phrases are used by males, and not females?
or is it just slang that you have to pick up as your process of learning japanese?...

_WATASHI_ - is used for both "I" and "me" by Japanese of both sexes.
_BOKU_ and _ORE_ - meaning "I" or "me" are for male speakers only - but keep in mind that both are less formal than _WATASHI_, and _ORE_ has a rather rough feeling (best to use it only amongst family and close friends.)
When addressing someone else - that is, saying "you" ...
KIMI is often used generally by males - when addressing equals or someone below you. It's an informal "you".
OMAE - is the second person "you" of ORE - so, it's very informal and has a rough feeling.
