Please be patient. I'm an absolute beginner and have started the course yesterday. Before starting, I spent a bit of time learning hiragana (katakana soon). My question is about wa. In the notes for the introduction lesson, konnichiwa and anatawa seem to be written with the hiragana for ha. Why?

Hi there,
When "wa" acts as a topic marker, it is always written with the hiragana character for "ha". This also extends to some other words, eg. konnichiwa is written as こんにちは！
(This is because konnichi 今日 means this day, and in this the wa is a topic marker, as in "as for this day")
It should also be noted that "wa" can be a sentence ending particle, often used by females. In this case, it is written with わ／ワ used to indicate emotions,
Eg. このしけんのものはむずかしいですわ! This exam revision is difficult!
Note that in this case, the first wa is written with は and the second with わ.
