こんにちは、みなさん! I'm trying to translate a Japanese song into English and there are a few lines that I'm not sure of. It would be great if you could help. ^_^ Here are the lines that are confusing me: 「I know 全部分かって全て分かってたつもり」 (he says "I know" in English) I'm not sure how this should be worded. 「分かってるんだ 戻んないのはでも、でも 思う分は自由だろ?」 "wakatteru n da" obviously means "I understand" and "demo" is "but", but what does the rest of this part mean? 教えてくれますか? ありがとう。 シェーリン

「I know 全部分かって全て分かってたつもり」 means "I know, I know everything, I thought I knew everything" 「分かってるんだ 戻んないのはでも、でも思う分は自由だろ?」 "I know, that you won't return, but I'm free to think about (you/it) am I not?" - Sayaka ;)

助けてくれてありがとうございました! That helps a lot, but what exactly do these words mean: つもり, 戻んない and 思う分? Those were the words that were making these lines hard to translate. ^_^; The song I was translating is エトセトラ by ONE OK ROCK, by the way. I absolutely love that band and that's my favorite song from them. I've found that listening to Japanese music and watching Japanese shows/movies is really helpful when learning the language, even if I can only understand a few words and phrases here and there, because hearing the language on a regular basis has helped with things like pronunciation and getting my Japanese to flow nicely and sound more natural. It's easier to remember vocabulary that way too. ;) Anyway, thanks again. I have the whole song translated now, and I think it's all correct..... シェーリン

Hi, つもりliterally means "intention" or "plan" and can be written as 積もり. I believe the first time it mentions it in the RocketJapanese course is in relation to the structure "dict. form of verb+tsumori (desu)" to mean "I plan to do something". Eg. そとで遊ぶつもりです。(I intend to play outside) 戻んない is from the verb 戻る(もどる)meaning "to return/turn back/to recover". 最終言葉分かりません。げめんあさい。I don't know the last one though, sorry. :(
