Hi Instead of saying "nihongo o benkyo shitte imasu" , can we use narau for "learning"?For example can we say "nihongo o naritte imasu"? I hope someone can answer this. Thanks.

Thanks.[/quo] 日本語を勉強しています (にほんご を べんきょう しています) [nihongo wo benkyou shiteimasu] I am study Japanese. 日本語を習っています (にほんご を ならって います) [nihongo wo naratte imasu] I am learning Japanese. Both would convey what you are trying to say, however just remember that narau is "to learn" and benkyou means "study" and sure means "to do" thus benkyou suru means "To do study" but more naturally is "To study". Also narau might be more used for "What I LEARNED in Japanese class today is... *insert something you learned here*" vs. "I am learning Japanese". In short, REMEMBER: 習う (ならう) [narau] To learn 勉強する (べんきょう する) [benkyou suru] To study
