Is the the past tense of 없다 없어서 or 없었어? Because in Lesson Have you eaten part 2 they spelt it like 없어서.

Hi Julian The past tense of 없다 is 없었어. In the lesson 1.4 Have You Eaten (part 2) the phrase "시간이 없어서요" can be translated to "Because I didn't have" so the "서" in "없어서" is a particle meaning "because" instead of a past tense. I hope that makes sense! - Sujung

Hi Julian Sorry for the late reply! Yes, there is a pronunciation difference - 없어서 would be pronounced with softer 's' sounds (ob-so-so) 없었어 is pronounced with a harsher 's' sound on the second 's' (ob-sosso) Hope that helps! - Sujung
