You can also listen to recordings of native speakers in conversation (or audio books) and see how much of the conversation you can pick up. Thats what I've been doing. And as I do more Rocket Portuguese lessons I find I understand more of what I hear, even if I can't say it all yet. Keep trying, you'll get it.

I recently started reading newspapers from Brazil online. I try to read and translate an article (one paragraph at a time) and then copy and paste the paragraph into google translate to see how I did.
