Hola Mauricio, Are the Level I course books compatible with Adobe's Acrobat Reader for Palm? The ability to place this entire course on my PDA (a Palm TX) would greatly increase my daily study time. Surely I'm not the only one? :-) PDA and "smartphone" compatibility might easily attract thousands of new customers. My Palm TX, for example, is ideally suited for Rocket Spanish. It has a 480x320 pixel hi-def colour LCD screen, it handles MP3 files with ease; and the basic 128 Megabyte memory can be expanded through a variety of popular flash memory cards - MMC, SD and SDIO. I plan to install a 2GB Secure Digital card on Christmas day. It would be awfully nice to load Rocket Spanish before dinner... :-) Kind Regards from the Cradle of Winter, Pete Buffalo, New York, USA

Hi troubadour, Yes it would be nice if everyone could have his/her preferred format to put on his/her preferred hardware with his/her preferred OS. :D But as long as there is not a high demand for something , I guess it is not going to happen. What is it exactly that you are after...as I am not familiar with PDAs at all. Antonio

Hi Antonio, Thanks for your reply. I should have framed a better question. Sorry! ::wry grin:: The __Rocket Spanish__ books are distributed as "Adobe Acrobat" (.pdf) files. This is why Windows users must install "Acrobat Reader 6.0" in order to view them. ("PDF" stands for "Portable Document Format".) Under ideal conditions, PDF files look exactly the same onscreen as they do in printed form. They can also be read by a wide variety of operating systems (e.g. Windows, Macintosh, Unix, Linux, etc..) Now...Adobe distributes Acrobat Reader for many handheld devices (PDAs, or Personal Digital Assistants.) These machines were once seen as little more than useful business toys. No more! The current generation of PDAs and smartphones (such as the new Blackberry models, the Apple IPHONE, and Palm's TX & Lifedrive) have evoved into genuine personal computers. This is where things get dicey. Tiny computers have tiny screens. They can't (usually) display the full width of a standard book page; and so one must convert PDF files to a smaller page size before viewing them. Some PDF files make a graceful transition. Others do not. The good news is that, once a PDF book has been re-sized for tiny screens, it will work in -any- handheld computer. Has anyone on the Rocket Spanish forum tried (either successfully or not) to read these books on a PDA? I believe it can be done...'tho it may take a bit of tweaking. OK. [/quo] Hola troubadour. Prompted by your message, I decided to try loading one of the Rocket Spanish pdf files onto my PalmTX. My first attempt got most of the way there and then failed. I'm not sure why. I tried to load the Rocket Advanced Spanish pdf. I imported it into the Adobe for Palm program on my desktop. It converted it, but it then hung. I decided to try with a smaller file, the Rocket Vocabulary Supplement. I went through the same steps, and that worked fine! It converted and was automatically loaded onto my SD card when I did a hotsync. I've now taken a look, and it's quite readable. The lists of vocabulary words are smaller in font size than I'd like, so I simply tapped and held for a second or two, and the list appeared in a larger, more readable font. The rest of the file is readable without any adjustments. So, in answer to your question, it's apparently quite possible to load at least some of the Rocket Spanish pdf onto your TX. I suppose if you use a different pdf reader on your Palm, you may not even have to convert the files first, but I prefer the way the Adobe reader for Palm handles pdfs, so that's what I used. Thanks for raising the issue. I wouldn't have thought to try this had it not been for your question.
