Si te vienen a contar - If someone o comes and tells you Cositas malas de mi. - bad things about me Manda todos a volar - Send everyone flying Y diles que - and tell them that Yo no fui - it wasn't me Mauricio.

This is a very popular mexican song! And it was made famous, (at least at first) by Pedro Infante. The day before yesterday, but 57 years ago, he crashed his plane in a city near Mérida, Yucatán, in southeast Mexico. He was , and still is, one of the big music and cinema idols in Mexico, and probably the most remembered from what it was called "La epoca de oro del cine mexicano" (Golden age of mexican cinema. Mauricio already gave you the basics, and as he told you before, there is a lot to translate and there is of course a lot of slang language. The basic meaning of the song, is very similar to an english song called "Wasn't me", basically he is telling someone (a woman probably) that it doesnt matter what bad things they are telling about him (maybe, cheating or playing with other women) is not true, or at least, it wasn't him. The song is a very happy and playfull song, and also just makes you want to dance. So, if someone tells you I have been a bad boy, It wasn't me, they are confusing me with someone else haha! buen dia!

Christian, You seem to be igniting some older posts. Your comments (as always) are very interesting. As you may recall I spent this past Winter in Merida. I am going to check out this Singer and song by sharing this with my Spanish group which includes a lady Singer and guitar player!

Hi Patrice! I hope that is a good thing! (me, igniting old post). The thing is that , last year, I did not had a chance of login in on a regular basis, so basically I had one year of inactivity, due to work related stuff (like, not having access to internet for example, so I was reading some old posts and this one called my attention, since I am a big Pedro Infante's fan and also , because of his death anniversary. I went yesterday to a music store (one of the few left) and purchase a CD with around 50 songs, at a very low price (no one seem to buy CD's anymore) and I was listening to him this morning. I hope you enjoy his music, even if it was recorded more than 60 years ago, and it is a music style that seems to be vanishing lately, for me the Mariachi music (ranchera, for example) is and will continue to be the music that the world identify us with the most (even if we have other 3 or 4 types of regional music that also identify us worldwide, like Norteño, banda sinaloense or Trios). Mariachi or ranchera music is the most popular music to give serenade to your loved one, even if the girl or the guy isnt a big fan of mariachi, it is just part of Mexico and you can't get more romantic than that (maybe a serenade with a Trio). Anyway, listen to "Besame mucho"(even the Beatles and Frank Sinatra sing it!),"Cielito lindo","Mexico lindo y querido", "Amorcito corazón", " Cien años", "Historia de un amor" , "Guadalajara" "La media vuelta" and "El jarabe tapatio". You will find this songs with a lot of artist and mariachis. All of them are excellent and they are like our 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th national anthems haha, specially "Cielito lindo". Look for Mariachi Vargas, Pedro Infante, Jose Alfredo Jimenez,Jorge Negrete, and Javier Solis . For a more modern approach Luis Miguel and Pedro Fernandez. Have a nice day!...and VIVA MEXICO!

"Te miras re mona, de pies a cabeza, pareces muñeca de un aparador, tus ojos de cielo que son dos luceros , los llevo en el alma, como una cancion..." You look so pretty, from head to toes, you look like a doll, your eyes of sky, that are two bright stars, I carry them on my soul, like if it was a song... :D!

Hola Ricardo! Estoy muy bien, gracias! Tú español es increíble! muchas felicidades! Si, la voz de Pedro fue una de las mejores voces de México!. Me gusta mucho la música ranchera mexicana, (even though I'm a big heavy metal fan haha!). Me encanta comer comida mexicana en pueblos pequeños de México y música de mariachi en el fondo! La comida sabe aun mejor acompañada de música en vivo! Saludos Ricardo!, Have a great weekend!.
