Hi Mauricio Sometimes some words are pronounce with a j and other times with a y - ,e.g. yo, lleve etc . It gets confusing because these pronounciations often differ in the same audio. I'm guessing it is beause it differs say between Chile and Guatemala, but which is the correct way to learn? thanks Laura

I started learning Spanish from a Spanish based program and learned to pronounce "ll" with a "Y" as in yellow. I then joined a class run by a Mexican lady and she and some of the other students used the "j" sound. When I questioned it I was told that it is regional and did not really matter as either way would be understood. I also had this confirmed by a Spanish friend. As far as "yo" is concerned. I have always understood that it should be the Y and not the J sound. I may be wrong on this. I hope this helps.

Hi Many thanks for that. it just gets confusing when both are used in the same lesson. But I think I'll ignore the 'J' pronunciation and stick to the 'Y', if it doesn't matter. Just so as I'm consistent. Gracias Laura
