Because "Son" means "are"...e.g They are young (Son jovenes) and "eres" means "You are" , remember that in english you have two "you" one is used when talking about only one person... "You are the best father in the world" , on the other hand , "you" is also used to talk about a group of persons(2 or more persons)..."You are the best parents in the world".....IN SPANISH we have to diffrent word for YOU. "TU" (or the polite fiorm "Usted") and "Ustedes".... "Tu eres el mejor padre del mundo"..vs. "Ustedes son los mejores padres del mundo"... Mucha suerte amigo! ;)
