IN LESSON 6.1 MAURICIO ASKED AMY WHAT WOULD LIKE TOMAR. TOMAR MEANS TO TAKE. WOULD ONE BE CORRECT IF HE USED THE WORD BEBER INSTEAD.

I think you could use beber, but I understand that it is more common to use tomar.

Hola Larry y Phil!...tomar y beber are both correct!, but as you already said it, tomar, means also "to take" so "tomar" can also be used in other contexts..."toma el lapiz de la mesa"....take the pencil from the table!...at least in Mexico we use the "tomar" a lot when talking about drinking alcoholic beverages! and the word beber is also used, but a little bit less i think, i think of the word beber as a more "formal" word....but thats just me...hope it helped! saludos!
