in lesson 1.11 T'u eres muy joven. you are very young. is he saying you you are very young. why would you not just say eres muy joven. also estas is translated you are or are you. in what situation do you use eres And estas

Hola Larry!! Yes, you can say "eres muy joven" and "tu eres muy joven" both mean the same thing , and the "tu" its implied. Now for the "eres" y "estas" question, remember that in spanish we have 2 ways of using the verb "to be". But "eres" its usually used in situations that we can call "permanent"...for example..."Tu eres Americano"...or "Tu eres un doctor" and in the case of "estas" its used for other expressions such as "Tu estas sentado"...(you are sitting), but then if the person gets up, well now it would be "tu estas parado/de pie"....so its not a "permanent" thing...i hope this helps!
