20.5 PDF - About the subjunctive The following passage occurs in lesson 20.5: “The personal 'a' is not used with direct objects that are indefinite or nonexistent (that is, a hypothetical person, place, or thing) EXCEPT before 'alguien' and 'nadie'. Look at the following sentence: Busco a un maestro que enseñe español. I'm looking for a teacher who teaches Spanish. Here, there is no personal 'a' because there is NOT a definite teacher who certainly exists.” Should this read, “Busco un maestro que enseñe español”? – ie. without an ‘a’.

I'm only a student studying spanish. However, I believe that you are correct. It should read without the "a". However, if they are looking for THE teacher who teaches Spanish the person does exist and "a" would be used. This is my understanding. Estudie bien. Study well! :)
