Direct/Indirect object pronouns

This is from 4.6 and 4.7.
"Quiero comprar un regalo por Teresa." Teresa is the indirect object, which becomes le. But why is the correct way
"Le quiero comprar un regalo" and not "Quiero le comprar un regalo"?

Hola,
The indirect object precedes the conjugated verb "quiero". Using pronouns you could also say: "Quiero compraselo". I want to buy it for her. It being the gift. Perhaps Nohablo or someone else more advanced than me can offer more. The book explains this. I purchased Rocket Spanish four years ago and later RS advanced , both with the back up discs and printed out both books. I refer to them often. I also have the " Practice Makes Perfect " books for verbs tenses and the one for pronouns and prepositions by Dorothy Richmond. Recommended here and elsewhere. If I am wrong or unclear I hope someone will chime in.
Un salud,
Rich

Great message, Rich. I agree with what you've said, both about the placement of le and about the book recommendations.
