I want to say 'They continued to run around in the field" but I'm not sure which past tense to use. Is continuing something an event ( a decision to keep doing something), or timeline? I want to say a timeline, and the correct translation would be Ellos continuaban a correr alrededor el campo Would the pretérito ever be used with a verb like continue? Thanks
