Do you pronounce the s in casa as " s" or as " ss" ?

Could you explain what you mean by "ss"? For me, "casa" is pronounced exactly how it sounds. The "s" sound is short.

I was talking with some Dutch People, and they all pronounced it like " Kaassa "
It sounded to me like double s
