Orange County

Robert-C7

Let me see if I got this right.
橙子 (chéngzi) = orange
县 (xiàn) = county
加州 (jiāzhōu) = California
so, to say Orange County, California, I drop the 子 in orange and say
加州橙县 (jiāzhōu chéng xiàn) where
橙县 (chéng xiàn)) = Orange County
