Du or Dich?

My German teacher told me that you use Dich if it is the subject and Du if you were talking to someone.I'm still confused on this front so I really need it explaining to me.

Hi there, You can also use "dich" if you are talking to someone, for example when you say: "Ich liebe dich" (I love you). It depends on the case of the sentence whether you use "du" or "dich". Have a look at our grammar chapters about cases (Nominative, Genitive, Dative, Accusative) and let me know if you need more examples or explanations. I hope that helps.

It is my understanding that 'du' is only used along with the verb. zum Beispiel du sprichst du liest du kannst du gibst du is the subject dich is the direct object dir is the indirect object -Paul
