It's more like " How, with what?

That looks like part of a conversation asking, "what (or what kind), what type of"

For example: You bought a new car and your friend asked, "What, what type of?" It seems repetitious but it's almost same like how many times we will repeat the question in English in general conversation... like: What, what do you mean?
