It is and was delicious. That is one thing I am looking forward to when I go to Italy, trying local food. My husband is Portuguese from  Mozambique, and I cook quite a lot of Portuguese food. In fact I am happy to eat certain Portuguese dishes that he won't touch. Am quite happy to trying most things once. Was interested to see that most Mediterranean countries make salted cod, if I'm not mistaken used in Italy too. Was thinking about GaryM41, I think that was his user name. Haven't seen him on the forum in a while.

Could the salted cod be the equivalent of the Italian "baccalà"? If so, there are so many delicious recipes available online, dovresti provarle! (here's one)

Thanks for the link, there are similarities in the recipes. The Portuguese would not use pasta in bacalhau dishes. My children don't like bacalhau at all, but love pasta. They were horrified to hear that pasta would be combined with so horrible. Made me laugh.

I can understand them! I feel somehow similar when I hear about the pizza + pineapple combo (as you can imagine!) :)
