I've been to Japan several times and have learned a few words and phrases during my visits. However, the language was always very intimidating to me, and I found it hard to grasp much of the structure and flow of the language. This course has made learning so much easier. It is a great system for me personally, as it allows me to really change up the day-to-day learning activities. It truly keeps the learning experience fresh and fun. I appreciate all of the activities that accompany each lesson. The audio dialogue is a lot of fun and provides many useful phrases and words for upcoming trips to Japan. The dialogue in each lesson deals with situations that are easy to visualize, thus helping with retention of the accompanying language. One aspect of this course that I find really helpful is the incorporation of elements from previous lessons into subsequent lessons. Not only does each lesson begin with a recap of a previous lesson, but words and phrases from previous lessons are often reused, but in different contexts and situations. This really helps with learning the language and understanding subtle differences due to different contexts. I would highly recommend this course to any serious would-be student of Japanese!
I am just in the early Italian lessons but already I have a feel for the language. The ROCKET style is both immersive and explanatory. The lessons are based on real conversations and then verbs and grammar are expanded. The added cultural references are fantastic!
I think the strongest feature of the curriculum lies with the ability to record your own voice and compare it to the lesson speaker. I am able to speak and listen over and over, hearing every little inflection until I get it right. At the introduction to each lesson, it sounds difficult. At the end of each lesson it seems so easy. The review before each new lesson reinforces the previous lesson. As an instructor myself, I appreciate the careful lesson plan that engages vocalization, comprehension, vocabulary expansions, and written words. But unlike dry textbook style, the lesson is really just a typical conversation, so you feel able to jump right into a situation and understand. I have wanted to speak Italian my whole life so I can travel to Italy and now I am so exited that this is now within my reach.
I have been learning to speak French over a long period of time. I have tried many tapes and CDs. No program has been as effective as Rocket French. I love the interactive audio course. As I go over the materials a second and third time my language skills are improving. Since I purchased the program listening and writing tests have been added and has helped my comprehension of the language. I am happy with this program and I look forward to studying French and hopefully moving on to Spanish and Italian.
Rocket Languages is great for getting into a language right away with phrases you will use often, and then following it up with cultural lessons, which are interesting and important if you plan to visit that country.
I really like Rocket German. It works for me because it doesn't bog you down with too much language analysis. It discusses grammar when neccesary and puts the emphasis practical, important language. The presentation is relaxed which also helps.
We tried Pimsleur and Duolingo each for a month before finding Rocket Spanish. Two weeks into RS and we’re pleased and feel like we’re learning USEFUL conversational Espanol. We wsh RS allowed us our own learning profile on one account like Pimsleur does. Pimsleur Level 1 to us as Beginners was VERY boring and far less practical than Rocket. And, Duolingo is a nice phone app for vocabulary but we learned very little practical conversation Spanish. So for our money and the time we will invest Rocket was a very good find.
Great course and I have learnt a great deal. My only negative comment is that the course so far (nearly finished level 1) does not give enough teaching on putting the language together, rather it teaches phrases. I am trying to learn the language as I now live in Spain and trying to learn the language.
I have been learning French for the last 10 years using a variety of methods including books and Rosetta Stone. I felt I was not progressing very well and nothing stuck which hindered my wanting to continue to learn. However, I found this site and tried the trial version and wow, just wow. In the space of a day I had learnt and memorised more French than I had in the 10 years of trying alternative methods. I have since bought the full version and I have no regrets whatsoever. The content is great and I love how you get to recite the same core content through all methods of communication (reading, writing, listening and speaking). I am already competitive on the leader-boards and I cannot wait to be able to use what I have learnt so far with my French pen-pal!
Enjoy learning it, Very good because you can always return to difficult parts. Had to stop for a while because of moving my home, but it was easy to pick up. From now on, I'll regularly continue. The target is learning the language. Unfortunately, my computer does not allow voice recording. I hope that this does not influence the study results.

Response from Rocket Languages: Hi Elza - Make sure you try the Android and iOS apps!
I like the way the lessons are structured and how they progress. It is also helpful to compare my pronunciation with the voice on the site.
I am a slow learner and have a problem hearing the words....by the time a sentence is finished, I may only be on the 3rd word!!! So pacing is very important for me.
