I'm really enjoying using Rocket French. The lessons are interesting and easy to follow. The language recognition is excellent and works well in both understanding and correction. The only small problem is that it doesn't sync well across my devices. It doesn't seem to recognise when I've completed a lesson on a different device. I'm sure this will be fixed with updates. Overall it's a fantastic learning tool.
Overall, I've enjoyed the Rocket German product. It would be very helpful to have a set of audio control buttons (play/pause/rewind 3 sec) positioned directly beneath the Quick Settings on the left margin of the web page for the interactive lessons. When I listen to the interactive lessons on a computer, I constantly have to scroll from the line in the lesson back to the top of the page to pause/replay a word/phrase. Similarly, a rewind 3 sec button on the phone version is desperately needed. Lastly, I would like to see a video option for the Language & Culture Lessons. Reading through all of this is a little dry. I want to watch/hear an instructor saying these words/phrases. Thanks
I've tried out many apps to learn Japanese, and no matter how many I tried, I always come back to Rocket Languages!
Unlike many other apps, once you get Rocket Japanese your membership is lifelong, no need to update your subscription. That's a really worthwhile investment. Ah, and of course their learning method and organization of studies is great (I can save pdf of ALL lessons to repeat even offline).
I am really enjoying my Rocket Japanese experience so far. You all have really created a very well rounded system for learning a new language. I love the diversity of information and mediums of teaching.
I have many programs such as Francais Authentique, Fluenz French, Rosetta Stone, etc., but I like Rocket programs because it allows me to practice to listen and talk. You can learn grammar by books but getting accustomed to French and actually to voice some phrases, this is very good. I would like to listen to TV5 or RFI and understand them with ease some day.
I like RocketLanguages' overall approach, but I don't like that the Test area only accepts one answer. Sometimes there are multiple correct answers, and those should be revealed as correct answers as well. Another thing that could be improved is the amount of content from previous lessons that's interspersed into later lessons. The quizzes in particular should test knowledge from previous lessons as well as the current lesson.
Unlike Rosetta stone this teaches you things you can actually use and provides actual instruction. There is a good mixture of interactive audio lessons, activities, flash cards, review and more. It's nice to hear a native speaker and a non native (American) one too. I enjoy that this include some cultural pointers too. I can avoid ordering the wrong type of coffee for the wrong time of day! The mobile app seems a bit unresponsive. This has led me to doing most things on my Mac and listening to the audio portion on my iPhone on the way to work. I took a couple of years of Italian in college and this is a good way to learn all I forgot. It's helpful to have an explanation of some of the literal phases. Overall, great product for the money.
I started learning French more than a year ago. It is quite an interesting language, though somewhat more difficult than some other languages for me. I find Rocket French easy to go with, structured, and with plenty of opportunity to practice. I see that after listening and practicing different sentences or phrases from the audio lessons, they stay with me. I am able to use them without much effort while practicing French in other contexts.
I found the first level excellent. Both presenters were extremely clear. I'm on to the intermediate course now though and finding it much tougher. It's the same female presenter and she's excellent, but the male presenter in this course is really difficult to understand, pronouncing words considerably differently from the original. They also leave way too little time to repeat the phrases in this one on the first attempt. The second seems to be ok. I've timed the first and in a lot of cases they leave less time than it took for them to say it, so hopeless for me as a beginner! A bit pricey, but overall it seems to be working.
My experience of learning Hindi with Rocket Languages has been amazing! It has helped clear lots of confusions I had with tenses and the genders of words. Overall, I've had lots of fun doing the lessons and would recommend Rocket Languages to anyone who wants to learn another language.
