Response from Rocket Languages
Keep up the good work, and happy learning!
Salut tout le monde!
I studied french over 25 years ago, and gave up because the course didn't seem practical or relate to real-life situations. Things have obviously moved on since then, and the Rocket French online course is excellent.
I am really enjoying it, and not only have many of the words and phrases come back to me that I originally learned, but I am finding it easier than ever to remember new words and sentences with Rocket French.
My confidence is growing with each lesson.
I found the price very good and would certainly recommend it to anyone.
I am looking forward to a trip to France next year to try out my improved skills!
I've been trying to learn French off and on for many years, but have always struggled with conversation. Having gone through the first few lessons in the trial version, I feel like my spoken French has improved more than it did in any of the classes I took. I would feel comfortable having a simple conversation with someone in real life after this short time. Seeing that kind of progress is motivating! The testing modules following each of the lessons do a really good job of helping you internalize the language that was taught in the lesson. The voice recognition software can sometimes be a bit slow or finicky, which may be partially due to my computer. I've had the best luck using the recently updated iPhone app. I would definitely recommend the French product. It is much less expensive than I would pay for classes that cover the same amount of material, and I believe I will actually be more proficient with Rocket French.
One note: I haven't had any contact with the company, so I cannot comment on the customer service, but don't want to give them a bad rating. One the I noticed was that the issues that I experienced initially with the iPhone app were resolved the next time I logged in. The company seems to be working hard to give customers a good product.
Rocket French has really helped me improve my aural and oral skills - two which I had always struggled with. It's really encouraging to be able to understand more and more with each lesson. The point and badge systems add a fun touch to this software. One does have to be motivated to keep up the learning streak, but it definitely pays off.
Rocket French is the best of the many French language teaching programs I have had experience with. I had a minimum amount of French training in high school and college just to meet the language requirement for my chosen field. Language learning at the time consisted of textbook, classroom and language laboratory exercises. For me this was torture as it took away from the time I could devote to the science and mathematics I needed to concentrate on to pursue a career in medicine. I am now retired but I have been involved with teaching students in other fields of education. Three years ago I decided to learn French. As I see it, the availability of computerized language programs of different varieties with voice recognition software has been a tremendous advance in language learning. I began with Rosetta Stone and enjoyed the experience and found it to be very helpful and I am happy that I had that experience. I also spent three weeks in France at an immersion school. I subscribe to Yabla which for a conscientious person can simulate an immersion experience in France. I enrolled in News in Slow French and look forward to their weekly output. Of course I also bought a book on French grammar and studied that.
rocket Chinese...alas,I wish I have been studying hard. but...I actually speak Chinese. rocket French is biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiien.
I have tried alternative programs to learn French many times in the past, but have constantly struggled with pronunciation. As an English and German speaker, extraneous letters always caused me trouble. I find that the Rocket course really hammers the pronunciation home, and I'm finally starting to get a hang of it. My progress in the short time I've been working with Rocket has been pleasantly shocking and I'm very excited to see how far I can go.
In addition to the wonderful course, I've found customer service to be impeccable. They respond very quickly, and personally, something which is hard to find in other large companies.
Rocket has been awesome for helping me to reconnect with my high school french, which I studied over 20 years ago. Great how it covers listening, speaking and reading/writing. I love how interactive it is, makes it actually really fun!! Easy to set personal challenges with the score keeping and badges etc.
I like the different types of exercises - I've tried other methods but for software based course this seems better than other I've tried. I have a big problem with my pronunciation so being able to hear myself and being scored is great.
I like the clearly structured way that the lessons are organised, with plenty of opportunity to practise the key points of the lesson. The voices are usually quite clear which makes it easier to understand the French that one is trying to translate. Very motivating.
