How to say Beautiful in French

French adjectives often have a masculine and a feminine form. Beau is the masculine, and belle the feminine form of the adjective meaning "beautiful." So, if you are talking about a man or masculine object you use beau, if talking about a woman or a feminine object use belle.

Masculine and feminine are sometimes the same, such as magnifique "wonderful," and sometimes you just have to add an e at the end, such as joli / jolie "pretty."
