The launch date for the Rocket Languages 2016 edition is revealed!

Firstly, a big thank you to all of the over 200 beta-testers who took part in previewing and critiquing the 2016 Edition of Rocket Languages courses.

We gathered a lot of really useful information that should make the new Edition even better than we intended! (To those few that have still to fill in the survey please do so asap, the more information we receive the better we can make it for everybody!)

Quite a lot of people asked about the release date for the 2016 Edition and I am happy to be able to announce that we are aiming for October 12th to get the first stage released to all members.

There will be changes happening after that date but the key components will be ready to go (well that's what our IT team have been telling me!).

For those that are interested, the beta test involved people logging into the beta version of the 2016 Edition then, after they had used it for a while, filling in a survey.

The survey asked about the IMPROVEMENT in the various Tests and layouts. Note that this score was out of 5, with a score of 2.5 meaning that the experience was the same as the current version.

Dashboard layout = 3.7 out of 5
Rocket Record = 4.0 out of 5
Hear it Say it = 3.8 out of 5
Write it = 3.8 out of 5
Know it = 3.9 out of 5
Play it = 3.7 out of 5

Considering that we have still to implement the recommendations from the beta testers, which should improve things further, this is a great result!

This was highly entertaining, too. I tried some grotesque pronunciations and a broad Texan-type accent just to see what it would come up with. Handled the accent really well. Love this tool!

It is the evening of 12th October here in New Zealand (well, actually 12.44am Tuesday 13th!), and I have just finished a unit doing "Hear it, say it".

It was neat to see the new layout, though the old layout was certainly not bad either.

One thing I missed in this session was the normal speed of the transactions!

The process was very clunky.
e.g. Hear the audio, (I say it out loud then say the English meaning), click "Reveal" and wait...., see the reveal, click on the Rating button, and wait..., see the audio button change from pause to play and wait... hear the next audio... BUT WAIT! My score hasn't changed! OH! Yes, it has just now when the audio played....ERRMMMM?

Well, I persisted and got to my desired good result, but it was a definitely slower process than it has been.

Not wishing to be cheeky, but do you know the saying "If it ain't baroque, don't try to fix it?" (Quote from Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" by Cogsworth, the clock butler). :-)

What has happened, then? Why so slow now?

I am sure you can fix this "baroque" bit.

It probably needs time to get pushed out to all the CDN endpoints. I find it unbearably slow also. Oct 15 now. France.
