Bonjour all. I have just finished working through lesson 7.4, i.e. the last lesson, in the course. Whilst i have much of the written material to continue with i would really like to continue with more conversational material as it seems to really sink in as i go over and over it on my mp3. I found Paul and Claire simply fantastic! Humorous, entertaining, enjoyable AND really educational.
So i sampled a lesson from the advanced course, but am so disappointed! No sweet Claire or the irrepressible Paul. The guy Eric sounds flat and unemotive and the lady has a dreadful American accent that i don't think i could stand working with, let alone going over it as i have just done.
Has anyone out there got some advice? Anyone agree? Anyone doing the advanced course and really enjoying it?
Merci!

Hi there,
I'm sorry to hear that you don't enjoy listening to Eric, Anne and Lauren.
Claire and Paul are great, but it is also important to be exposed to as many different accents and voices as possible so we decided to introduce some new voices. The feedback we have received so far is that people enjoy the new voices and love Eric's dry sense of humor. We are currently working on another only advanced Interactive Audio Course. There you get to meet new voices again. We hope to release the latest Interactive Audio Course within the next two months, so watch this space.
I will keep you updated.

I don't know if this is still relevant to you, but I am now working on the More Rocket French program and I have gotten used to Eric's voice. At the beginning, I, too thought it was awful, but I've definately adjusted to the different voices. I am only working through chapter 3, now and so cannot comment on further lessons, but the topics in the first three chapters seem quite useful. My only frustration, is that the phrases we are expected to memorize are getting longer and longer, and yet there are no pauses after they are spoken all together. Also, they graduate so quickly from slow and precise pronunciation...which is wonderul....to full-speed, full-length paragraphs that I get frustrated. Also, there is no way to stop in the middle of the lesson, unless you ARE using an MP3 player or computer....when I'm in my car, which is where I use the audio course....almost entirely....I wish I could stop and start at the end of each major phrase that is examined.
All-in-all, I'm enjoying it, and will continue to go through the lessons. I find that I need a LOT of repitition. I'm a visual learner, and felt that I should stick to predominantly audio learning in this case, to force the training of my ear. Hope you can adjust to the new voices. I think this new level should be beneficial. I'm also glad to hear that there will be another advanced level coming out. This whole process is taking quite a bit more work, than I believed that it would.

Merci beaucoup Nathalie et Willow. Une question pour vous, j'espere c'est ok. I haven't finished the written course material from the first course yet, should i before starting the advanced? I too am a visual learner but seem to have more time in the car with my mp3 than i do to study so would like to keep going as it is helping me so much. But does the advanced also have written material similarly and would that be running ahead of myself?
Thanks again for your answers folks and glad to hear your review Willow.
A prochaine fois :-)

Hi there,
the written material is certainly very helpful, but I'm sure you will still be able to follow along the More Rocket French Interactive Audio Course even if you haven't completely finished going through the grammar lessons of Level 1.
More Rocket French is certainly more advanced and having new voices takes some time to get used to.
Nevertheless a very important aspect of learning another language is getting used to different accents.
You are not expected to remember all the long sentences straight away. Follow along if you can and let them sink in. The more you are exposed to spoken French the easier it will get.
We are currently in the process of revamping the members area. We will add progress tracking and heaps more quizzes. I'm sure that these features will help your learning process immensely.
Even if you mainly use Rocket French in the car I would still recommend to login to the new members area when you are home from work and check your progress. We hope to have the new members area up and running shortly.
I'll keep you updated.
All the best for your French learning.
