I understand there are exceptions to grammatical rules . When saying "a lot of money,' beucoup de la monnaie is incorrect ? Am a little confused on this one.ie why is the "la" component exempt??(see q47 chapter 2). Is there as difference between la monnaie and l'argent as to when they are used???(q 47-48) Thankyou for your assistance-am loving this program!! Regards Kate

Bonjour, Yes it is incorrect to say "beaucoup de la monnaie", A lot of Money is translated "beaucoup d'argent", a lot of change (in the meaning for coin) is translated "Beaucoup de monnaie", An the "la" or the "l'" is exempt for both of this case. La monnaie in french is the change or the coins and l'argent is the money. I hope this make sense, Regards
