Pronunciation of the compound vowel "ou"

I noticed in lesson 1.12 on pronunciation that the compound vowel "ou" is pronounced like the "oo" in "school" or "wool". For example, "bonjour". However, I also noticed that in the word "pour", the "ou" is pronouced like the "ou" in "four - 4" which rhymes with the word "Paul". So, is the pronunciation of the compound vowel "ou" pronounced differently in "pour"? Thanks in advance for any clarification. Regards - Bengho

Salut, there is actually only a very minor difference. The "oo" sound in "ou" is slightly shorter and perhaps "lighter" than in "pour" and more on the "o" side than the "oo" side. Depending on the region the pronunciation can differ slightly. I hope that helps.
