why do we learn dollars and centimes when France uses the Euro?

Good point, it's not Québécois either with the centimes.

Hi, I am not sure about the "dollars" designation, but when you pay in euros, you get change in centimes. I still have euros and centimes from my last trip; can't wait to use them on my next trip. :)

Euro change/coins are in cents though, I just got back from Estonia last night (hitting other Baltic countries) which also uses Euro, the coins in my pocket definitely say 20 cents, 50 cents, etc. Incidentally, the only coins I have that have a variation of "centimes" on them are from Latvia which uses Lats and santims/santimu (until January 2014 when they convert to Euro). (The ones from Lithuania are Litas and centai).
