Ciao a tutti,
Grahame is correct.
"Ho capito" is the past of the verb "capire"
io ho capito = I understood
tu hai capito = you understood
lui/lei ha capito = he/she understood
noi abbiamo capito = we understood
voi avete capito =you understood
loro hanno capito =they understood
The present form is
io capisco = I understand
tu capisci = you understand
lui/lei capisce = he/she understand
noi capiamo = we understand
voi capite =you understand
loro capiscono = they understand
I hope this help.
Ciao

Hi Maria. Thank you for the conjugation of the verb capire. I have a few questions re: the above;
1st of all is 'voi' the formal form of you?
Also how do you translate the 'hai' 'ha' 'abbiamo' 'avete' and 'hanno' in front of capito?
Grazie
Dawn

Ciao Dawn,
"Lei" is the pronoun to use in the formal form.
"Ho,hai,ha,abbiamo, avete, hanno" is the conjugation of the verb "to have".
The verb "to have" in this case is used as a auxiliary verb.
The sentence "tu hai capito" will be translated as "you have understood".
I hope this helps
