oh my word

Oh My word.

This word “sceglierlo” is like a veritable tongue twister. Has made me laugh and just can't seem to be able to get it done with dignity and proper pronunciation.

If ever I get to Italy may have to avoid that one or make a total idiot of myself. Well will probably put my foot in my mouth a few times. But that is okay with me.

A presto

After a few glasses of Chianti, who will notice?!?

Hi Chris

So that is the solution. You have a valid point. Made me laugh. I normally do language in the morning, but maybe a shot of something will help. Every time I say it I just laugh, as sounds nothing like Maria.

On a serious note, I take such words and break them down into syllables, then speed up my pronunciation progressively, until it sounds right.  This website may be of some help as well: https://forvo.com/languages/it/

Ciao

Thanks Chris.

Great learning tool. Can say it in my head, but even when I break it into syllables it comes out crooked. Will keep practicing. I have problems with indirect and direct combinations too.

Keep well

Ciao Maxie,

I understand that some words in a foreign language can be quite challenging to pronounce, and "sceglierlo" might be one of them for you. Don't worry, it's completely normal to struggle with certain words, especially those that have unique combinations of sounds or unfamiliar phonetic patterns.

The important thing to remember is that making mistakes and stumbling over words is a natural part of the language learning process. It's all part of the journey, and it's okay to have a sense of humor about it. In fact, embracing those moments with a lighthearted attitude can help you stay motivated and enjoy the learning experience even more.

When you have the opportunity to visit Italy or engage with native Italian speakers, don't be afraid to give it a try. Italians are generally appreciative of learners who make an effort to speak their language, even if it's not perfect. Making mistakes is a valuable learning experience and can even lead to some memorable and enjoyable interactions.

Remember, the goal is to communicate and connect with others, and even if you stumble over a word or two, your effort and enthusiasm will be appreciated.

So, keep practicing, have fun with the language, and embrace the moments of making mistakes. And who knows, with time and practice, "sceglierlo" might become a word you can pronounce with ease.

A presto e buona fortuna!
