Ciao a tutti e Maria. Mia domanda `e spiegare " stato"........ io so questo `e da i verbi essere e il dizionario detta " state of, repair, fettle e been". Ho frassi " sono stata derubata" = I was robbed. And my research tells me that "stato" is passato prossimo. Could you please shed a bit of light on how this word is used, And what exactly means "passato prossimo"?? Thanx, Fran

Ciao Fran, "stato" is the past participle of the verb "essere" (to be) and "stare" (to stay). -io sono stato -tu sei stato -lei,lui è stato -noi siamo stati -voi siete stati -loro sono stati Examples: -I've been to the restaurant = io sono stato al ristorante As in English you can commonly find it in the passive sentences in the past tense as for example: -Il panino è stato mangiato da Luca (the sandwich has been eaten by Luca) or -ieri io sono stata derubata (yesterday I've been robbed =yesterday I was robbed) I hope this helps Ciao
