I was wondering what the difference between "Ti" and "Tu" is, and when to use which. For instance, why couldn't I say "tu piace" instead of "ti piace", or "e ti" instead of "e tu"?

Hi Dario,
Tu is a subject pronoun meaning you in singular.
Examples: Tu sei gentile (You are kind); Tu sei intelligente (You are intelligent).
Ti is a direct or indirect object pronoun.
Example of direct object pronoun: Lei ti ama (She loves you).
Example of indirect object pronoun:Ti ho datto un libro (I gave you a book).
Ti piace il caffè (You like coffee/Coffee is pleasing to you).
