Course content and JLPT coverage

Hello,

So I know that you guys say that the 3 levels will cover N5 and N4. However when I analysed the content outline (topic titles on dashboard) for all 3 levels using ChatGPT, it showed me that the course actually covers like 70% (majority) of N3 level as well. It also showed that it also covers around 30% N2 level. I do not know how correct this is.

I know that the Kanji writing exercises only cover up to N4 Kanji, but does the vocab and grammar in the course reach the N3 level? Just curious!

In summary, this course provides:

Near-complete coverage for N5 and N4 (beginner levels),

Moderate coverage for N3 (intermediate level),

Partial, introductory coverage for N2 (advanced-intermediate level).

This makes it an excellent choice for reaching a solid N4 to N3 proficiency, with a stepping stone toward N2 but not fully covering all of N2’s requirements.

こんにちは (Konnichiwa) Zirik,

Thanks for your question!

To clarify, Rocket Japanese covers all the content required for JLPT N5 and N4, including kanji, grammar, and vocabulary. This means everything needed to pass the N5 and N4 levels is included in the course. However, you'll also find some N3 and N2 grammar and vocabulary sprinkled throughout.

JLPT doesn’t always reflect the grammar and vocabulary commonly used in everyday Japanese conversation. Because of this, we felt it was important to include essential grammar and vocabulary that are commonly used in daily life in Japan, even if they fall outside the N5 and N4 levels. Some of this content happens to be from JLPT N3 and N2, but is vital for real-world communication.

That said, while the course touches on some N3 and N2 content, it doesn’t cover all the material needed to pass those levels. It’s more about providing the tools for everyday communication rather than preparing for those specific JLPT levels.

I hope this answers your question!
