Hajimemashite! I'm in the very beginning stages of learning Japanese and stuck on comprehending the difference between Doko (Where), Kara (From) and Kimashite (come). I can kinda see Kimashite being different, but Doko and Kara seem very similar, since where and from imply the same thing. Arigato

Doko (どこ) is the noun for the word “where”, but kara (から) is a particle that attaches to another noun to indicate a start (or origin) time, place or location. This is why you will see things like doko kara to indicate “where from”.

Made (まで) is the complementary particle for indicating an end or destination.

For instance, you can say “from 3 o'clock to 5 o'clock” using kara (from) and made (until) particles after those times. It's basically structured backwards from the English, with the particles following the times!

Tesuto wa sanji kara goji made desu.

“The test is from 3 o'clock until 5 o'clock.”

That makes sense! Arigato!
