Hi, im still quite new to rocket japanese and so far find it really useful in learning japanese. However when it came to watching the videos of someone drawing the sounds (i.e. ka), their version is different to the computer version shown in the sentences. Do I use the one provided in the video and ignore the computer version? Can I use either? Thanks, Craig

the reason why it look different is because the writing style the font the size that is why it look different to you. i recommend you write the way in the video cause that is the way you write it. and for you to see you can see the writing on this website plus it haves videos in japanese so you can have a little practice hearing spoken japanese www.nhk.or.jp

The handwriting shown in the videos is just that: handwriting. Not everyone's handwriting looks the same, and no ones is as neat as writing that's typed on a computer. Similarly, in Japanese, the text you see on your computer is going to look ideal and perfect. In reality, it's far too slow and cumbersome to write like that, so many write in cursive. http://japan.callistasuniverse.com/hiragana/cursive/hiracursive.html is a list of hiragana characters in a cursive style; you'll see how they vary from their typed counterparts. Unlike Keyatta said, it's not the font size, but rather the writer's handwriting, which makes it look different.
