Konnichiwa!
*Nihon-go, nihongo*, and *nihon go* are all correct.
In Japanese the word *nihongo *is written in Katakana as: にほんご
Or in Kanji: 日本語
So, in Katakana or Kanji there is no separation between *nihon* and *go*.
Literally, *nihon go* translates as "Japan-language".
So you will see *nihongo* written with a gap in between *nihon* and *go* separating the noun and the suffix *GO*, which refers to "language".
The *GO* can attach to any language.
So, _Spanish_ or _Spain-language_ is:
*Supein-GO*
And, _German_ or _Germany-language_ is:
*Doitsu-GO*

Yes!
Eigo is Ei-go, just like, Nihon-go.
The "go" translates as "language"
