Hi, I have been studying Japanese for a month now and I am trying to get in more verbal practice. I do not know anyone in South Florida that is studying or fluent in Japanese. I did sign up for Lang-8 but I have a hard time connecting with anyone on Skype because of the time difference between Japan and USA. Is anyone interested in practicing with me on Skype? Please let me know. If so I will give you my Skype address. Thank you, Kerry

There really are a few options to that, either change your lifestyle so you are awake more often during their daylight time, or find some Japanese friends who work the night shift. Either way, good luck! While practicing with other foreigners will help it doesn't really improve your listening comprehension all that well since other foreigners make mistakes in pronunciation more than natives will.

[quo]*Quote from * ComicChik Do you have any suggestions o how I can improve my conversational Japanese?[/quo] The interactive audio lessons do a marvelous job with pronunciation and the like. Although they don't exactly give too much actual speaking practice. Like if/when you go to Japan at first it'll be a little difficult compiling the words together to form a sentence, but I wouldn't worry about it too much as it won't take too long to get over.

Konnichiwa! Having a true-authentic Japanese conversation with a real person can be tricky. Have you tried posting an AD "looking for a Japanese conversation partner" - or something like that - in your local supermarket, or paper? Sometimes, you'd find Japanese people tend to be interested in have a give-and-take kind of approach. That is, you teach them English (conversational), and they teach you Japanese. Hope that helps! -Sayaka :P
