Bon, J'aime les langues et Rocket French m'a donné une bonne chance pour pratiquer la langue français. J'ai trouvé une bonne oppurtunite pour l'ecriture, la partie oral et l'écoute. Bien sûr j'ai besoin de pratiquer la conversation, je crois que la conversation est le chose plus importante, j'espère que Rocket French a un moyen pour fait la conversation entre éleves
Very poor experience regarding the numerous simple spelling mistakes and inconsistent and sometimes just plain wrong translations. I expected much more from a paid for language learning tool.
Response from Rocket Languages
Thanks so much for your review. When writing translations, we try to find a balance between being as literal as possible, while also conveying the meaning of a sentence. If there are any phrases you think we could translate more literally, please don't hesitate to send them through to our customer support team. Regarding spelling errors, we are in the process of going through all of the Rocket French lessons at the moment, and so you should soon find that this is no longer an issue. Our apologies for the frustration caused!
I think the course is very good - I am learning quite a lot of things I hadn't understood previously. My only criticism is that in the 'flashcards' and the 'speaking' revision it never specifies whether to use the formal or informal forms for 'you' or 'we' (tu or vous and nous or on). I find this quite frustrating as I'm sure others do, it's hard enough learning a language without the negative effect of using the wrong form when answering the revision questions. It would be quite simple to signify which form to use: if you are to use the formal form just put an 'f' in brackets before or after the phrase, and then if there wasn't an 'f' people would then know to use the informal form.

We're glad you're enjoying the course, Susan! In the top right-hand corner of each flashcard, you'll notice a gray notation that you can hover over with your mouse to access the information you're looking for. For example, a phrase that uses "tu" will be marked with an "S-I," indicating that the SINGULAR and INFORMAL "you" is required. You'll see these notations throughout the course. Best of luck with your French language learning!
Voice recognition is very variable with certain short words. eg un, deux trois. The rest of the numbers appear fine. How do you get better than 35% on a one word answer eg être?
Overall I think the programme is very good
I like Rocket French and have found it helpful, but if you're a person who doesn't memorize sentences well in order to repeat them back orally or in writing, you may get frustrated. I can actually converse in French at an intermediate level, but I'm not able to memorize these lesson passages because, in the moment of studying, their only importance is as text to attach to my brain long enough to recant for the machine. Frankly, I don't learn fluidity from memorizing but from composing my own sentences, so I much prefer studying the vocabulary and the grammar, and those lessons here are very good and give me the needed tools. I think it would be a lot of work, but it would be cool if Rocket French could restructure for an experience that involved less rote repetition of longer texts. If you don't think you'd be disappointed by this, then it may be perfect for you.
I was very happy with the program until the new format. The functionality when using an iPad has significantly deteriorated. In particular, I am unhappy with now being unable to replay pronunciation in order to compare with the speaker. My voice recordings are frequently cut off in mid-phrase. Basically, the program is no longer user friendly for people owning iPads. I no longer will recommend this program to my friends. In fact I am traveling to Europe this summer with some friends and I have told them to find another program. We are going to brush up on different languages prior to traveling.

Hi Bernard - I am sorry to hear about the issues you have been having. We have updated the iOS app, so this sort of behavior shouldn't be happening now. Please contact customer support if you continue to have issues.
I've been delighted with the entire program so far. Particularly good were the i-pod downloads with Paul and Marie Claire. I'm learning French slowly, but I'm learning. I have Rosetta Stone and Pimsler.... they don't match up to Rocket Languages .
Well thought out program. The chunking technique is brilliant and the downloadable .mp3 files are perfect for my commute in the car. I expect the program will be very effective in my learning French!
Rocket French is an excellent product. My greatest struggle (to date) is understanding spoken French. Rocket French does a much better job with this than other platforms. I also really like the lifetime ownership.
Something to improve is the voice recognition. It doesn't work all that well, and is often frustrating. Other than that, great product.

I tired the free trial for Rocket Languages as I was a bit skeptical. I really enjoyed the free trial. Its a great way to immerse yourself into the French language. I went ahead and bought all three levels! So far I am still in the early stages of level one but everything is going smoothly. I can't wait to use what I have learnt when I go to France to visit my boyfriend.
