My Mexican house cleaner suggest a correction to my Spanish one day when I said “Abro las persianas.” Trouble is, I can't recall what the correction was. I was referring to window blinds (the type with draw strings). Can anyone help? Thanks!

Hola PaulB59,

“Abro” is the first person of abrir:"I open". The familiar imperative would be “abre” or perhaps the correction was"levanta" the imperative of levantar, to raise. Don't know if you adress the house cleaner as “tu' or ”usted",  if the latter it would be"abra" or “levante”. On the other hand it may have been something else. If so, please advise. Hope this is of help.

Saludos,

Gracias, Ricardo. Yes, levantar was the verb she used, but what's the correct noun?
