Excessive lag time playing back sentences.

For the last couple of days when I try to listen to the Conversation Transcript and Additional Vocabulary (I'm working on lesson 18.2 right now) there is an excessive lag time between when I press the play button and the recording begins. Everything else is working normally. But this issue takes up valuable learning time. I have logged out of RL, closed Chrome, then logged back in with no improvement.

Yes I've noticed this too although not on every phrase. It's rather annoying, the delay can be a few seconds.

Hi guys - At this stage we think that it is a glitch that occurred with one of our servers. In saying that, do you notice any consistencies with when this happens? e.g. longer/shorter phrases, in the reinforcement activities, etc?

Jason: thanks for the response. Honestly, I haven't noticed any patterns. It doesn't seem to make a difference whether the phrase is longer or shorter. But I'll pay closer attention tomorrow if the problem persists.

The problem doesn't seem to be related to the length of the phrase as far as I can tell. But I get the impression that it might be related to the time of day.  At the time I posted this before 8 am GMT the response was very good and most of the US will be asleep at this time. Perhaps it is related to the load on the servers.

Update at 16:40 GMT mostly very good but occasional delays of a second or two. Not so sure of the time of day theory.

I logged on about 2:00 pm (CT) and the teacher's audio lagged a lot in the conversation transcript and extra vocabulary, while I had very little trouble with the playback of my recording. I hope it just had to do with the new updates to the program.

An update on fixing this problem please? The lag time really cuts into study time!

Today, at 16:00 GMT, I had 1 out of 30 phrases with a 2 second delay, the rest were under a second.
I wonder if this is language related. I am studying German which may not be as popular  as some other languages. It is relatively unusual for for me to experience delays that cause a serious problem, although on occasion it has been bad enough to make me give up.

Hi all - This is a little perplexing as we haven't changed anything for 2-3 months on how the Rocket Record system works. In saying that the IT team will be looking at this first thing tomorrow morning to see if we can figure out what's going on, although it is tricky when we can't replicate it at our end. 
Dan - We will look at the lesson you initially had trouble with and see if we can get anywhere with that.

No appreciable delay here here in the UK on playback of phrases, or starting to record, or playing back my recorded phrases at 9:00 GMT.
I am wondering if the problem is local to Dan.

Hi all - We are still unsure of the root cause of this issue. It's likely that it is a regional thing, but regardless we are going to implement a change that should speed up the recording process all round. This should be in play within the next 48 hours or so, and should lead to a general improvement.

Help! I'm still having trouble with the time delay in the teacher's recording in the tests, and it is at least a minute long. It has also started with the Rocket Record feature in lesson 9.1 (level 2, lesson 1.1), particularly happening in the afternoon.

I noticed that there is no delay at all if I go through the lesson a second time without exiting.

Yeah, if you stay in the lesson and try a phrase for the second time it is granted (gaurenteed) to work.

Hi all - Just updating you on this. We implemented an improvement, which should make Rocket Record more responsive. Please let us know if you notice a change either way in performance!

I thought this issue had been resolved, it did work well for a few days. But a noticed a few phrases lagging yesterday, and today it has gotten much worse. I tried closing Chrome, logging out and back in, even tried it with Safari and couldn't get it to respond at all.

So apparently the problem persists. It is very distracting to study habits. Please look at it again.

Hi Dan - That's interesting, as nothing has changed at our end. I am wondering whether it is a computer system thing.

We are pushing out a large upgrade within the next 48 hours, although that is mainly to do with the Android app and Play it!, some minor improvements to Rocket Record will be made as well.

So, maybe let's wait until that has been done and see if there is any improvement.

Jason: Okay. I will be working in lesson 18.7 tomorrow but not on Thursday, so I'll let you know how it responds on Friday.
