when is the s in plus prounounced and when is it not?
February 9, 2010
I would think it would follow the rule & be sounded when it is followed by a word beginning with a vowel.

On prononce le "s" de "plus" en fin de phrase et dans "plus que" >>> C'est Jean qui gagne le plus (prononce le "s" ici) ; il travaille plus que les autres.(prononce le "s" ici).

Salut à tous!
The "s" in "plus" is not pronounced when it means "no more" (negative sentence).
Example: Je ne sais plus que tu veux (I don't know anymore -no more- what you want).
It's pronounced in all the other cases as when it means "more" (positive sentence).
Example : Je veux jouer plus ( I want to play more).
I hope this helps :)
 bientôt !
