Is there any talk of adding any new languages? I want to learn Russian, but of course it isn't offered at the moment.

Hi Dionna, Unfortunately we don't have any plans to develop a Russian language course at the moment. The only language we are currently working on is a Portuguese course but I will pass on your request to the development team. All the best! - The Rocket Languages Team

Hi guys, Thanks for all of your great course suggestions! We are definitely keeping note of the languages that you want to learn, or new levels that you would like added. Unfortunately we aren't working on any new languages at the moment, because our focus is on improving the ones we have, but we will keep you posted! Thanks again! Happy language learning :)

Is there a way where you can have more than one language being learned on your account at the same time?
Rocket-Languages

Rocket-Languages

Hi Mia K, Yes, you can sign up for multiple languages and they will simply be added to your current account. You won't need different logins for the different courses - everything will be available together in the same place. Hope that helps! Let us know if you have any further questions.
mia-k

mia-k

Can you tell me how to do that?
Rocket-Languages

Rocket-Languages

Hi Mia, You just need to choose your preferred language on our website here: https://www.rocketlanguages.com/ then click "Start Free Trial". If you buy any of the courses they will be added to your account as long as you use the same email address. If you need any help, feel free to contact our support team using the Help and Support link at the top of the page!

Hi all. Thanks for the suggestions! We are a small company with limited resources, for example, we have 15 people on the Rocket team compared to Rosetta Stone who have over 1,300. This means we have to be very selective about what projects we take on. As you all probably know, we have just finished the 2013 Edition of our courses and are moving onto getting our Apps completed in Q1 2013. In saying that I will keep you all informed of what languages are coming sometime in Q1!

Thank you for replying so quickly. I didn't realize that you were such a small company. I understand why you are selective about which languages you will work on next. I'm quite impressed though. My impression was that you were a big company. I really like the program. Thank you for making it available. I have been tell my friends about it. I will post and tweet about it. Happy holidays!!
jason-oxenham-ceo

jason-oxenham-ceo

Hi Claudia - It's definitely a juggling act for us, certainly with the lead up to the release of the 2013 Edition we concentrated on making the course more effective and user-friendly in the way that it works. I suppose that is our advantage over larger companies, we can roll out updates and upgrades relatively easily. Happy Holidays to you too!

Thank you. The same to you and your family and the staff. :)

I also was not aware that you were such a small company, it is impressive the amount of stuff you have for such a small group of people. I have just signed up for a free trial of the Korean program, so we will see how this goes! Thanks!

I am too very impressed. :) I am using the Rocket German and have the Rosetta Stone Spanish that I bought several years ago. I definitely like the Rocket Languages method better because of the explanations. I am a teacher and have recommended it to our ESL teachers since she seems to have a lot of problems with Rosetta Stone. Plus she wants her daughter to be bilingual so I've recommended it to her for personal use too.
jason-oxenham-ceo

jason-oxenham-ceo

Hi Libbylos - Thanks for the recommendations! We have two ESL courses, one for Spanish speakers and one for Japanese speakers. We have licensing deals for academic institutions, just email support@rocketlanguages.com for more info!

I like Rocket German better than Rosetta Stone too. I tried Rosetta Stone probably more than 5 years ago and, at that time anyway, didn't find it all that effective. It was good for visual learners, but what I didn't like was the lack of explanations as Libbylos noted. I realize it's touted as "right brain" oriented the way kids learn, but I don't think that approach works particularly well for adults who, like it or not, are mostly left brain learners. I like understanding grammar and rules. Of course, you can go too far that way too like some high school courses where practically all you learn is grammar and hardly any useful vocabulary. I think Rocket German has done an excellent job of creating a balance between grammar and learning useful words and expressions.

Hi Byron - Thanks for your comments! It's nice to know the hard work of the Rocket team is being appreciated, I will pass your comments on.

I'd just like to back up the suggestions for a Tagalog course. Rocket Languages is definitely one of the best ways to learn a language and since I know several people who speak Tagalog, it'd be great to have a Rocket Language course to learn it. And thanks so much for all the hard work you do!

Is there any plan to add Russian on the list of languages? That would be great.
jason-oxenham-ceo

jason-oxenham-ceo

Hi Zacharie - Sorry, Russian isnt on the list right now. We are concentrating on improving how our current courses work in the short term. In addition to the 2014 Edition changes there are a couple more innovations coming out over the next 2-3 months!

Byron-K21

Byron-K21

Surprising how many Russians are in the U.S. now since the collapse of the Soviet Union. There are several families in my neighborhood and I hear it spoken quite frequently (at least sounds Russian) in the Minneapolis area. There might be a lot of interest. I think I would even sign up for a course although I'm far from proficient in German. It would be fun to learn just a few phrases.

Hi Dan - Unfortunately there are no plans for a Premium Plus version of Rocket Portuguese. However, we have been looking at producing a Rocket Russian course, and hope to get this live in 4-5 months time.

What are the thoughts on Gaelic? I found a local program for it, but the program isn't very good at all.
jason-oxenham-ceo

jason-oxenham-ceo

Hi Naomi - It's hard for us to find Gaelic speakers, and our courses take an awful lot of time and effort to put together. So, unless there is a worldwide Gaelic renaissance unfortunately it won't be on the cards for us to do.

thejdatron

The area I come from is supposedly the home of Gaelic and I don't know anyone who can say more than a few phrases, it may be on sign posts but it's pretty much a dead language unfortunately.

I know, I want to bring it back more. It makes me sad to see all these dying languages.

Hi all - For those that are interested, we are in the process of building Rocket Russian. It's still a couple of months away from being complete, however if you want to stay informed of events then you can sign up here to receive updates.
