Ciao Maria. I am confused please could you please explain why the "la" below in smettere di giocare? I understand that the to command form for smettere di is smetti di, but I am not sure why la is being used. Q2. Smettila di giocare e vieni a cena. Stop playing and come for dinner. Ciao Dagmar, the "la" at the end of the verb is a pronoun. In Italian you say "smettila" when you want to say "smetti di fare quella cosa" ("stop to do that thing"). The pronoun "la" stands for "la cosa". I hope this helps ciao
