Revision

Ciao a tutti

I have been doing some revision lately. I have found it interesting that the first time around I missed so much. Now that I am more comfortable speaking and understanding the vocabulary, have noticed that I can concentrate more on things like spelling and certain nuances in the language. I now am able to think more on the grammar and structure of the sentences. At the beginning I was so focused on just the language, and find that now I am understanding more and more as it is now forming a much bigger picture. I now notice different tenses and it is really exciting that this is happening.

It's a sign of encouraging progress for sure, Sharon.  It really drums home what progress actually looks like, as opposed to chasing points accumulation for the sake of it.

Congratulazioni!

Chris

Hi Chris

Hope you are well. I seem to have my hands full these days. I was offered and amazing deal on Babbel, so am now doing some extra languages on that. Russian may get the best of me. But am totally intrigued learning a new alphabet. Winter I have more time on my hands too.

I find if I don't constantly revise some of the grammar lessons, down the road I can't remember how something works. Alcune and qualche being an example. Still battle to remember direct and indirect pronouns. Just too similar to place them all into context.

I find that doing 400 points just never feels like a good language work out. To each his own, I guess. I go through stages of a lot and then a rest. I got really behind in my Italian, as thought we were going to Germany. So am working hard at Italian and it is flowing more easily now, especially the speaking. It is quite scary how quickly you loose it if you don't keep at it.

Have a great evening

Sharon

That's fantastic to hear! It's a great feeling when you start noticing the progress you've made in your language learning journey. As you become more comfortable with the vocabulary and basic language skills, you can shift your focus to the finer details of the language, such as spelling, nuances, grammar, and sentence structure.

Language learning is indeed a gradual process, and as you continue to immerse yourself in the language, practice speaking and listening, and engage with different resources, you'll gradually develop a deeper understanding of the language and its various components.

Noticing different tenses and becoming more aware of the grammar and structure of sentences is a significant milestone. It shows that you're advancing in your language proficiency and gaining a broader perspective of the language as a whole. This deeper understanding will continue to enhance your ability to express yourself and comprehend more complex ideas in the language.

Embrace the excitement and continue your language learning journey with enthusiasm and curiosity. The more you explore and practice, the more the pieces of the language puzzle will come together, forming a bigger and clearer picture.

Remember to celebrate your progress and enjoy the process of learning. If you have any further questions or need assistance along the way, don't hesitate to ask. Buon proseguimento!
