7.3 (&7.4) It Takes Two to Tango

What used to be two different lessons is now discouragingly long. I'm somewhat tempted to skip it but I'll give it a go…

Hi Steven,

Our apologies for any confusion caused! We recently combined the Travelogue lessons into three lessons per chapter so that we can make way for a new audio feature. We realize that it makes the lessons twice as long, but we think that the new audio feature (coming soon!) will be worth it!

In the future, we'll be revisiting the number of Play Its in each lesson to make them more manageable. In the meantime, you might want to consider skipping the tests until you feel more confident - remember, you don't have to do each and every activity. We provide a variety of different activities to suit different learning styles, so you can choose what's best for you!

I must say I've been rather confused by the recent change to the Travelogue lessons myself.  I had been working through lesson 3.6, and from one day to the next it disappeared, and became unavailable.  I then noticed that all the chapters only had three lessons each.  I've been presuming that this was a programming or technical error that would be corrected.  A quick post from staff in the forum would have been helpful to know what to expect.

I take it that all of the content is still there, it's just been combined into fewer lessons - is that correct?  Aside from the updates to the Play Its you mention, is there anything else planned that would be disruptive to someone continuing with the Travelogue lessons?

Looking forward to the new audio feature and thank you for the ongoing improvements to the course. It's about time I adapt to a new routine anyway.

Hola Steven,

Nice to see you're still here. We may be the last of the old timers. I tried the Travelogues a number of years ago  but not far into it I asked for a refund as there was so much English. Does that continue through out?

Saludos,

Ricardo

Hola Ricardo,

A voice from the past! Indeed, we do seem to be the last of the old timers. I'm not sure I follow with respect to you saying there being too much English in the Travelogues. I turn that option off so I see and hear only Spanish. My problem is that I'm finding the lessons discouragingly long now (2 to 3 times longer after they've recently combined them). My routine had been to say each lesson's dialogue naturally like in a conversation (start to finish without looking at the text). I can't even motivate myself to start now and I'm perplexed as to how to structure a new learning routine which can be done in a reasonable amount of time.

Saludos,

Steven

Hola Steven,

It seemed there was a lot of English expalnation  preceeding the lessons. I didn't go very far into it and wasn't sure about the flow.  Someday I might give it another try. I hope things get worked out so you can continue with out frustration.

Saludos,

Ricardo

Hola Steven, Gary and Ricardo,

Apologies again for the confusion! All the content is still there, just in fewer lessons.

We do usually let our learners know about the changes, but in this case, we hadn't quite finished making the changes yet (you were too fast for us!). Combinbing the lessons was a first step before we could test the new audio feature.

Once the new feature is ready, we'll announce it here! We're still working through the last few bugs before we can make it available to you all.

As for any other planned changes, at some point, we'll be making these two changes:

1. Adding the afore-mentioned audio feature.
2. Revisiting the number of Play Its in each lesson to make them more manageable.

We don't have a hard timeline on either of these yet but hopefully early next year.

Ricardo, you mentioned the heavy use of English in the Spanish Travelogue. This was a common concern with other learners so a few years ago we added Spanish translations and audio throughout. You can now choose to listen to the story in English (with Spanish conversations) or completely in Spanish. I've added the trial version to your account so that you can see how it works. I hope that helps!

I hope you'll give it a shot, Ricardo - I've really enjoyed and benefited from the course. Thanks, Liss - looking forward to the new audio.

¡Que bueno! Gracias, Liss.  Steven, I 'll definitely give it a shot.

Ricardo
