¡pero es un sentimiento extraño el pensar que nuestros pasaportes originales pueden ya estar en manos de las autoridades locales! Y que nuestra conexión con Rick pueda ponernos en peligro.

My question was going to be why the first usage of "poder" wasn't in the subjunctive, but in listening closer to the audio, I believe the audio is in the subjunctive ("puedan").

¡Hola Steven-W15!

You're right, this should definitely be in the subjunctive as puedan. I've checked the audio and it is unfortunately incorrectly said as pueden as well. I'm going to pass this on to our audio team to see about having the pronunciation fixed and then the spelling adjusted.

Thanks very much for pointing this out to us, and our apologies for the error!

Hasta la próxima vez,

Liss

Thanks, Liss. Going through the course now, I try to say whole sections of a lesson from memory. What I found most encouraging was that I was automatically putting that word in the subjunctive. It's only when I went back and looked more closely at the spelling that I caught the error (so the course is working!). Of course on the flip side, maybe my hearing isn't so good...

¡Hola Steven-W15!

That's excellent that you're automatically using the subjunctive without even thinking about it - it's a great indicator that your brain is really getting into Spanish mode! Haha I wouldn't worry too much about your hearing - when you're trying to tell the difference between two similar vowel sounds, it can be easy to trick your ears into hearing what's written down.

¡Bien hecho, y hasta la próxima!

Liss
