I have been doing a lesson every day for 4 days. How come I only see points and progress on one day?

Richard: when you say "doing a lesson," what do you mean? For reasons unclear to me, you don't get points for listening to an audio lesson. Click on the My Badges link on the left side of this page, scroll down a way and you will see
How do I get more points?
Click on "show" and the section will expand showing you what you get points for. Like you got 10 points for posing this question, but I get 100 points for answering it. Good deal for me, huh?
So to get points while studying a lesson, listen to and do Rocket Record on the individual lines of the conversation transcript and additional vocabulary. You also get points for doing the testing lab.

It takes about 45 minutes to listen to an audio lesson. Sometimes I skip it, I should not. RS should at least give 100 or more points.

While listening to an audio lesson, you can "practice" the phrases by hitting the play button (2 points) and record button (2 points) on the lesson page. You can therefore be accumulating points while listening.
Still, it would be nice if Rocket Languages put up a rating box at the end of the audio lesson to acknowledge that we completed a lesson and award say 100 points for doing so.

On one hand I can see why getting points for listening to a 45 minute lesson would be nice. However, if getting points is the only reason one listens to the lesson then I submit that that person is in the midst of a great exercise in futility and will most likely never learn Spanish. I'm not trying to be rude or critical here. It's just that the whole point of any language course is to increase one's understanding of that language, not to complete points related tasks. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against the points incentive. I understand why it's there and I enjoy it myself. But it's good to remember why we are all here. For my part it's to become the RS points champion of the world.
¿Dije eso? ¡Lo siento! Es decir "hablar español."

hefay: at one time I would have agreed with you. Actually I still do agree with your assertion that if you are only here for the points it will be en exercise in futility.
For many months I really did not pay attention to how many points I was accumulating. I also never used Rocket Record, even though I always echoed every sentence in every lesson.
But at some point I realized that without my knowing it, my point total was getting up there, and if I made sure that I got points for what I was doing, I could get into the top 10 Spanish learners. Once I got there, I set my sights on moving up the ladder. Now I am solidly in 5th place, and looking over my shoulder because David M38 is creeping up on me.
So I have to say that for me, the points have been an additional motivation. It is sort of like getting a gold star or an A in school. I didn't get many of them back then so I am making up for lost time now!

Right you are Dan. Nothing wrong with points and other incentives to keep motivated. In my case, the fact that I put down some $$$ for the course is the motivation to keep at it and get my money's worth. I also am motivated by the desire be more involved in Christian ministry to Spanish speakers. Both of those items trump the points incentives in my case. Each learner is different. Each one here at RS has his or her own reasons for learning Spanish or improving that ability. If points help that goal, then by all means use the points.

The points are meaningless to me. I would like to see more testing.
